Trampas - Sorry for the long delay in the reply - no excuse other than busy. I have a Edsyn soldering iron for home use, and work has some very nice ones. Is the mini-wave possibly a spade tip? I don't want to get off topic too much, and will try google some more on fine pitch soldering, but this is really the first I heard of it being so easy with the correct technique and soldering tip.

Mark/MGP/PCM - Thank you much for the PCB vendor info Very Happy
I will be looking forward to trying them out (based on pricing).

I don't mean to stay off CCS compiler topic too much, but what PCB software are you using? At work, price has no limit, but I also want to do stuff at home on my own on a smaller budget.

Thanks in advance, as I think this is of value to many CCS users too Very Happy

The secret is in the flux. It is what makes the solder flow so nicely.

This thread has comments on soldering technique and a link
to some video clips. One of the clips shows the miniwave technique.

Oops - forgot to log in last time...

Thanks for the links Very Happy ! The mini-wave looks really nice. I'll probably sell my Edsyn iron, since they don't have mini-wave tips for it that I have seen. I have done the pin to pin, and do get lots of shorts, then have to clean it all up. I've found that flux also helps to remove the coating on magnet wire if you are using some of that for proto's or whatever. Thanks for the feedback, as the mini-wave is new to me!

Those clips are not opened, how do you open them?

You're right, they're dead links. I know they once worked in the past.
I have emailed Pace and asked them to fix the links.
