Could not start target error |

Hello,
I'm currently trying to use the ICD-U40 debugger on a pic 16F877. When I try running I get the error:
"Could not start target: the target was not halted...."
I've checked the MCLR line and the clock which is running at 20M and everything seems OK.
I've tried the diagnostics section in CCLoad and it says that everything is OK. When I get CCLoad to generate the known good program for testing it programs in and then comes back with the same error.
I've also removed and reinstalled the USB drivers for the ICD.
Any ideas
Programmer is ICD-U40
Compiler is version 4.130 |

Are you sure your clock is good?.
Triple check what is on the pins.
Look at the thread where a complete re-install fixed this. |

Hi Ttelmah,
Thanks for the reply and the help.
Over the weekend I reinstalled a previous version of the compiler and now it is all working to plan. Not sure if it was the reinstall or the reverting to a previous version that fixed it but I'm afraid just now it's a case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
But again thanks for the help.
